014CO - Blue crystal vase
This striking Empire style vase commands attention with its rich cobalt blue cut crystal and the opulent gleam of 24-carat gold-plated chiseled brass. The vase boasts a substantial and elegantly shaped body crafted from deep blue cut crystal, its intricate facets creating a mesmerizing interplay of light and shadow, enhancing the vibrancy of the color.
Emblematic of the Empire era's grandeur and symbolism, the vase is lavishly adorned with meticulously detailed gilded brass mounts. Two graceful swans, symbols of elegance and purity, serve as prominent decorative elements, their curving necks and intricately rendered feathers adding a touch of classical refinement. Complementing the swans are two powerful eagles, representing imperial strength and majesty, also exquisitely chiseled and gilded. These figures are strategically positioned to accentuate the vase's symmetry and imposing form.
Further enhancing its Empire style are classical motifs in gilded brass, such as palmettes, laurel leaves, and geometric borders, which frame and accentuate the deep blue crystal. These details underscore the neoclassical influences of the period.
The vase is supported by an ornate gilded brass base, often featuring paw feet, consistent with the Empire aesthetic. A matching lid, also incorporating gilded brass elements and potentially a finial, completes the piece, adding a final touch of regal elegance. This Empire style vase is a magnificent example of the era's taste for dramatic color, luxurious materials, and powerful symbolic ornamentation, making it a truly impressive and distinguished decorative object.
