076M 8 sides - Exquisite Malachite and Gilt-Bronze Side Table
This elegant side table, attributed to the renowned French bronzier Pierre-Philippe Thomire, is a testament to the refined artistry of the Empire period. The table features an octagonal top and belt, both meticulously inlaid with panels of vibrant malachite stone, showcasing the mineral's unique swirling patterns and rich emerald hues.
The malachite panels are framed by intricately chased and gilded brass, plated with 24-karat gold, creating a striking contrast and enhancing the table's opulent design. The table's support structure is a masterpiece of sculptural detail. Four legs, crafted from chiseled and gilded brass, rise from a shaped base. Each leg is adorned with a stylized sphinx (sphynges) figure, rendered with remarkable detail and embodying the classical inspiration of the Empire style.
The central support column, also crafted from chiseled and gilded brass, features intricate detailing, further enhancing the table's visual appeal. The combination of the malachite, the gilt-bronze detailing, and the classical sphinx motifs makes this side table a truly exceptional piece.
